Honestly, can I just say, I completely misunderstood the intentions of that post, and for that I am sorry. What I thought was you were saying that If people are upset by photos of abused animals or meat etc, as many people are, they should just deal with it and “man up” or whatever.

I guess I didn’t realize that the TERM was what you were more opposed to rather than the action, correct? As for that, it really didn’t occur to me that it would have such strong implications for ONLY survivors. Maybe there could be another, better word than triger to warn people of something they might not want to see rather than something that would trigger terrible memories or anxiety or depression? 

Really the only thing I meant by my response was that many people do have a strong reaction to seeing animal abuse or maltreatment or death in pictures or video form, my mom for instance, often has me watch ahead in tv shows or movies to tell her if “anything bad” happens to the dog. If she sees strong animal cruelty with no warning she cries hysterically or gets “upset,” though I’m not sure if that’s the right term for it (she suffers from depression and occasionally alcoholism, I don’t know the extent of it, but I know she takes medication now, which is why I try harder to spare her certain imagery). I just hear a lot of people put myself and others down for feeling compassion and empathy for other living creatures and it annoys me because aren’t compassion and empathy valuable traits?

I’m sorry for my misinterpretation, I really wasn’t thinking about it through that lens.
